On December 4, the Georgian Public Broadcaster aired an interview with Kimberly Lowe, who stated that the U.S. wants to assist the Georgian government in continuing its efforts to join the European Union. She also mentioned that U.S. actions towards Georgia have been unfair. During the broadcast on the First Channel of the Public Broadcaster, the host introduced Kimberly Lowe as a “possible representative of the Trump administration in the EU.” Lowe’s comments were shared by other media outlets, including pro-government media, which, similar to the Public Broadcaster, described her as a “possible representative of the Trump administration in the EU.” Her remarks were disseminated by Imedi (1;2;3;4), Reportiori (1;2), NewsHub, the Media Holding Kvira  (1;2), Guria Times, InfoPostalioni.com, as well as Facebook users and pages (1;2;3;4;5;6;7).

  • What Do We Know About Kimberly Lowe?

Kimberly Lowe is a member of the Republican Party who attempted to run in the 2024 U.S. Senate elections. However, she was not a candidate in the Republican primaries and was among those who either withdrew their candidacy or were disqualified from the primaries. In 2022, Lowe also sought to run in the U.S. House of Representatives elections but was disqualified as a candidate due to insufficient signatures and errors in her filing paperwork. In response, Lowe claimed that the “party establishment” was trying to block her.

There can be no information found in American media suggesting that Lowe is being considered for a position as a representative of Donald Trump’s administration in the European Union or for any other official post. The Public Broadcaster cites Lowe herself as the source of the claim that she is being considered as a candidate.

In a 2022 election questionnaire for candidates, Kimberly Lowe described herself as a “single mother, farmer, and policy advisor.” In the same questionnaire, she expressed interest in joining the Foreign Affairs Committee if elected, noting that she works with experts from many countries to prepare for such a role. When asked whether prior political experience is beneficial for representatives, Lowe responded, “People are sick of politicians; we need real people in office to fight for the people.”

Lowe’s Facebook page has around 3,400 followers. She frequently shares photos with various Republican politicians, but no other sources indicate that she has close ties to the Trump administration. In one of her posts, Lowe accused the “deep state” of persecuting her.

On October 31, Lowe announced in a Facebook post that she had been appointed “Peace Ambassador” by the Universal Peace Federation (UPF). The Universal Peace Federation is an organization of a Korean religious leader, Sun Myung Moon, the founder of the Unification Church, which was established in 1954. Moon declared himself to be the “Messiah.” The religious movement has been involved in numerous scandals. In 2023, the assassin of Japan’s former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe stated that Abe was targeted due to his connections with the Unification Church. Following the assassination, Japan’s government wanted to suspend the organization’s activities in the country. Critics have accused the Unification Church of exploiting its followers.

Besarion Shengelia’s posts on his Facebook page have been shared by Kimberly Lowe as well (1;2;3;4). Besarion (Beso) Shengelia is the author of a children’s book titled “Kinderbubu.” He is also planning to hold a World Peace Forum in Georgia. Shengelia claims that, through his communication with Kimberly Lowe, Donald Trump has been informed about the forum. According to him, Trump has been invited as an honorary guest to the forum, and the American side is ready to participate in organizing the forum and even provide financial assistance. In addition, in October, Shengelia was offering Georgian media outlets an opportunity to interview Kimberly Lowe by contacting him. Shengelia refers to Lowe as a “candidate for the Senate” and has shared a July article from the English-language newspaper Georgia Today, in which Lowe is again associated with Shengelia and described as a “future U.S. senator.” However, as previously mentioned, Lowe was not a Senate candidate and did not even participate in the Republican primaries. In her comment included in the Georgia Today article, Lowe stated that she personally tried to improve diplomatic relations across the world by meeting with world leaders. However, there is no information in other sources about her diplomatic activities, official visits, or meetings. News about such official meetings is not even published by Lowe on her own website.

Shengelia claims that he was among the nominees for the 2024 Nobel Peace Prize, having been nominated by theologian Professor Konstantine Akop. However, the list of Nobel Prize nominees is confidential and not disclosed by the Nobel Committee. On social media, Shengelia describes himself as a “Nobel Peace Prize candidate, inventor, and economist.” He also mentions that he studied at the Georgian Technical University. He is also listed as a graduate of the master’s program at the Higher School of Economics in Russia.

On December 4, Giorgi Gvimradze, Director of News and Current Affairs at the Georgian Public Broadcaster, stated that he conducted the interview with Kimberly Lowe. Gvimradze noted that the claim that Lowe might become a future representative of the Trump administration is currently confirmed only by Lowe herself. He also stated that Lowe had run for Senate, which, according to him, is “easily verifiable.” However, as previously mentioned, Lowe has never been a Republican Party candidate for the Senate. Furthermore, Lowe’s connections to members of the Trump administration, as mentioned by Gvimradze, are not substantiated by any sources other than photos shared by Lowe herself. On December 4, the Georgian Public Broadcaster confirmed to Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty that Gvimradze had resigned from his position.
