On June 1, Facebook user Nino Kvaratskhelia, who frequently shares misinformation, and others disseminated two photos (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) in which journalists are seen wearing Inter Milan jerseys. In one photo, the jersey is worn by Formula TV journalist Vakho Sanaia, and in the other, we see Davit Eradze, host of the “Sport in the Big City” program on Mtavari TV, along with journalists Magda Kldiashvili and Nana Chokoraia, wearing the same jersey. These photos were published after Khvicha Kvaratskhelia became a UEFA Champions League winner with Paris Saint-Germain, who defeated Inter Milan in the final.

Both photos showing the journalists in Inter Milan jerseys are either digitally altered or created by artificial intelligence with the likely aim of portraying the journalists as not supporting Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s team’s victory.

Myth Detector, after verifying the shared images, determined that one photo was digitally edited and the other was likely generated by AI. Specifically, the image featuring Vakho Sanaia is a modified version of an original photo, which can be found on the website of Georgian media outlet Interpressnews. In the authentic version, the journalist is wearing a white shirt, not an Inter Milan jersey.

It’s worth noting that Vakho Sanaia has indeed criticized Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in the past. According to Sanaia, while Kvaratskhelia is an excellent footballer, the journalist disapproves of his civic stance. However, nowhere has Sanaia stated that he supported Inter in the Champions League final. In fact, after the match, he shared a social media card from Formula TV, which reported that Kvaratskhelia had won the Champions League.

Myth Detector has previously debunked disinformation alleging that Vakho Sanaia had spoken negatively about Kvaratskhelia. For more, see our article:

The second fabricated photo, as already mentioned, features former Mtavari journalist Davit Eradze and his program guests, also journalists. This image cannot be found elsewhere online, raising suspicion that it was AI-generated. These individuals were likely targeted due to opinions they expressed on the March 27, 2022, episode of “Sport in the Big City.” Specifically, they criticized Kvaratskhelia, who was playing for Dinamo Batumi at the time, for his past period in the Russian Premier League and for not condemning Russia’s aggression in Ukraine. Magda Kldiashvili also remarked that she believed expectations for Kvaratskhelia were excessive and that he was not the kind of phenomenal player who could single-handedly bring extraordinary results to a team. Although the individuals appeared together on the program, they were seated far apart. The image now circulating on Facebook is entirely fake and was created using AI or digital editing.

In the circulated image, we can see the backdrop of the show’s studio, and in the top corner, the hashtags “#FreeMisha” and “#NOflyZoneUA” are visible, matching exactly the backdrop and on-screen graphics of the “Sport in the Big City” program. Therefore, it’s clear the image was deliberately designed to resemble a frame from that specific show. However, it’s important to note that the show was taken off the air in 2022, making it impossible for the circulated photo to be a recent screenshot from the broadcast. Moreover, as of May 1, 2025, Mtavari TV has completely ceased broadcasting and now only operates online with limited resources. The Champions League finalists for the current season were only determined on May 6-7, so journalists could not have known the teams playing in the May 31 match before the TV channel was shut down.

On May 8, journalist Magda Kldiashvili expressed her support for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia on social media, sharing a post stating that he had secured a place in the Champions League final with PSG.
