Nikoloz Mzhavanadze is a journalist and TV host at Sezoni TV, as well as the head of the organization “Union of Human Rights Defenders”.
Mzhavanadze is openly pro-Kremlin and advocates for the full restoration of economic, diplomatic, and cultural ties with Russia. In May 2024, Mzhavanadze posted a video from Moscow on his Facebook profile, in which he proposed viewers to choose between Russia and “Gay Europe”. In 2024, he visited Moscow again, where he met with Grigory Karasin, Chairman of the International Affairs Committee of the Federation Council of Russia, during the World Congress of Compatriots Living Abroad.
Mzhavanadze is known for his Turkophobic and Xenophobic statements and frequently invokes historical traumas while portraying Russia as a safeguard against threats to Georgia. Both he and the guests invited to his studio regularly spread disinformation on topics such as the strategically important Anaklia port, Russia’s full-scale invasion in Ukraine, the possibility of opening a second military front in Georgia, and others. Mzhavanadze also uses sexist language and spreads gender-based disinformation.
Over the years, Mzhavanadze has worked at several pro-Kremlin outlets: he hosted programs on “Alt-info” and Media Union “Obieqtivi”. Since April 28, 2022, he has been hosting “Summary of the Day with Nikoloz Mzhavanadze” on Sezoni TV, as well as Russian-language program named “Итоги Недели с Николозом Мжаванадзе”.
