On May 24, the anonymous Facebook account Informational-Analytical Union published a video in which we see citizens throwing colored paint at a person dressed in black. The video is accompanied by the caption: “A liberal sect in agony performed a pagan ritual.”
The video is being disseminated manipulatively. The footage does not depict a “pagan ritual,” the participants of the rally painted the “dark past” in order to “color the future”.
The video was published on the Facebook page of the online media NEWS.on.ge on May 23. According to the media outlet, within the framework of the performance in Batumi, the actor dressed in black, who embodied the “dark past”, was painted with colored paints “to color the future”.
“No to Russian law” – the protest march under this name started in Batumi on May 23, at 19:00. Before that, at 18:00, the Art Gen Z movement organized a performance called “Color the Future”, information about which was published on their Facebook page.
“The actor dressed in black represented the dark state of today’s Georgia, which the artists and the attending public painted in different symbolic colors: red and white – the flag of Georgia; blue and yellow – the flag of the European Union; green – life and development.” – we read in their statement.
According to Art Gen Z, the purpose of the performance was to show the current state of Georgia in a short presentation and to emphasize that only the Georgian people can color it.
