Between April 13 and 15, the Facebook page of the online outlet “Georgia First NEWS” and various Georgian (1, 2, 3, 4) and Russian-language (1, 2, 3) Facebook users shared information claiming that Spanish activist Isabel Peralta was sentenced to one year in prison. According to the posts, the reason for her sentence was comments she made stating that “Spain is Christian, not Muslim” and “It is not migration, it’s an invasion.” It’s worth noting that Shota Apkhidze, director of the Caucasus Islamic Research Center, shared different details in his post. Specifically, he claimed that the woman was sentenced to five years in prison, had all her property confiscated, and was permanently banned from working in EU territory.

The details of Isabel Peralta’s case are being spread out of context, creating the impression that she was arrested for criticizing migration. In reality, Peralta, who is a neo-Nazi, was sentenced to one year in prison and fined €1,080 due to violent calls she made during a protest in 2021. Her slogans about Muslim migrants included calls such as “Death to the invaders.”

Isabel Peralta is one of the leaders of the Spanish neo-Nazi organization NS Bastión Frontal, which actively protests against Muslim immigration in the country. One such unauthorized rally took place in 2021 near the Moroccan Embassy, and her sentencing is directly related to the events of that day. The prosecution filed charges as early as November 2021. On April 10, 2025, the court ruled that during the protest, she used phrases that incited hatred and discrimination against a specific group, encouraged violence against Moroccan immigrants, and violated their dignity. Particular attention was given to slogans such as “Death to the invaders,” “It is not migration, it’s an invasion,” and “We are suffering unprecedented racial substitution.” Protesters also held a large banner that read, “Neither the king, nor the government, nor the European Union will stop Moroccan expansionism. War on the invader.” The court decided that all of this went beyond the bounds of freedom of political expression, especially considering that Peralta led the event and vocally addressed the hundreds of gathered demonstrators. The protest escalated into disorder and resulted in five people being arrested. It is noteworthy that the prosecution had requested 3.5 years of imprisonment and a fine of €3,240 against Peralta. The court only partially upheld the request, sentencing her to one year in prison and a fine of €1,080.

Peralta responded to the verdict on her Telegram channel, stating that spending a year in prison for defending her homeland means nothing to her. She then quoted the final words of Adolf Hitler’s propaganda minister, Joseph Goebbels: “Men will come who will try to walk this path of ours, and they will be persecuted just as we were. But in the end, we will triumph, because what is good and true always triumphs in this world.” While covering her sentencing, Spanish media also recalled a 2022 incident in which Peralta tried to enter Germany carrying a swastika flag, Hitler’s famous book “Mein Kampf,” and a book created by Nazi propaganda titled “Bund Deutscher Mädel,” for which she was deported from the country.
