On March 24, a Facebook user Nana Gujabidze published a post claiming that a person got paralyzed below waist after getting AstraZeneca’s COVID-19 vaccine at Ghudushauri Hospital and that this information is being hidden. The post does not indicate the source of this information.
Press service of Ghudushauri Hospital categorically denied the widespread information and mentioned that the hospital is not administering COVID-19 vaccines at all. According to the list on the website of the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health website, vaccinations with AstraZeneca vaccines were launched in 24 hospitals, but Ghudushauri Hospital is not one of them.
The author of the post does not indicate the source of the information or any other detail that would make verification possible. The user has not replied to the comments asking about the source either.
Myth Detector contacted Ghudushauri Hospital press service with the aim of verifying the information. They called the widespread information false and denied such fact. The press service also emphasized that Ghudushauri Hospital is not involved in the process of administering COVID-19 vaccines and that vaccinations do not take place there.
The list of all hospitals involved in administering AstraZeneca’s COVID-19 vaccines was published on the website of the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health on March 13. A total of 24 hospitals all around Georgia are on the list, but Ghudushauri Hospital is not one of them.
The vaccination against COVID-19 with AstraZeneca’s vaccine was launched in Georgia on March 15. On March 25, Georgia received Pfizer’s vaccine too.
