Between May 13 and 15, information began circulating in fan groups dedicated to Georgian footballer Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (1, 2.), as well as on Facebook pages like “Georgian Sport” and others, claiming that Kvaratskhelia’s silhouette would appear on the French Ligue 1 logo. The discussion centers around a photo of the footballer taken during a March 8 match against Rennes, which went viral and impressed many viewers.
The claim that Kvaratskhelia’s silhouette will appear on the Ligue 1 logo is not true. No such announcement has been made by the French Football Federation or any of its representatives.
During the Ligue 1 match between PSG and Rennes on March 8, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who plays for the Parisian team, created a memorable moment by leaping into the air and controlling a ball that was nearly three meters high, and launching a counterattack. This moment quickly went viral online and garnered admiration from both Georgian and international fans.
Over the past two months, rumors have circulated across various social networks in various languages, claiming that Ligue 1 officials were considering, or had already decided, to replace the current tournament logo with this image of Kvaratskhelia. However, no specific source has been cited in any of these posts. It is worth noting that the silhouette photo of the moment was likely first posted by Ligue 1’s official X and Facebook accounts. But nowhere did these posts mention that the league’s logo would be changed to feature that image. The post’s caption simply read: “Kvara just dropped the most iconic pic ever.”
We checked every post and article published on Ligue 1’s official website and social media channels since March 7, but found no information that would confirm any plans to change the tournament’s logo to include Kvaratskhelia’s photo. Also worth highlighting is the fact that the current Ligue 1 logo was just changed at the start of the 2024–2025 season, making another change within a year highly unlikely. Moreover, McDonald’s is currently the league’s official sponsor, and its logo is included in the current Ligue 1 emblem. The tournament is officially known as “McDonald’s Ligue 1” and will continue to bear that name next season. The French Professional Football League has already presented the official match balls for the 2025–2026 season, and judging by previous practice, any official logo changes would have already been publicly announced.
