On November 18, an anonymous Facebook account called “Wise Sayings” and other Facebook users (1;2;3;4;5) shared a photo showing a dog urinating on a tent set up at the protest.
A fabricated photo is circulating on social media in connection with the protest rally. The original photo does not depict the dog.
The original photo, which was later edited, belongs to Radio Liberty and includes the logo of the media outlet. In a post published on November 18 at 1:26 AM, the media reported that additional tents had been set up near the first building of Tbilisi State University, and citizens planned to spend the night and remain there until 8:00 PM on November 18.

Facebook users shared an edited version of Radio Liberty’s photo. A dog was added to a green tent, urinating on it. The logo on the original version was also cropped out.
Through open sources, it is possible to find other photos of the same dog taken at different times (1;2;3) , in which it is depicted near a tree. This very photo was used to edit the image from the protest.

In front of the first building of Tbilisi State University, on Chavchavadze Avenue, tents were pitched by demonstrators who consider the October 26 elections fraudulent and demand a repeat election. Citizens spent the nights of November 17 and 18 at the site. On the morning of November 19, police forces arrived on Chavchavadze Avenue and called on the protesters to stop the “artificial blocking” of the roadway. After representatives of opposition political parties and activists refused to leave the area, the police dismantled the tents and forcibly moved the citizens to Melikishvili Avenue. Sixteen people were arrested at the scene.
