On July 3-4, Facebook pages and accounts (1, 2, 3, 4.) disseminated a photo and quotes allegedly belonging to the famous Australian actor Chris Hemsworth. According to the posts, people often confuse Hemsworth with Georgian football player Budu Zivzivadze and send him private messages. Specifically, two quotes were spread on behalf of Hemsworth: 1. “Recently, many posts and announcements have been coming to me in private messages, telling me that somewhere in Georgia everyone loves me. Thanks”. 2. “I heard that people in Georgia love me very much, which is clearly felt in private messages. I want to tell you that I am not Budu, I am Chris Hemsworth.”
The photo that is being disseminated on social media is altered. In fact, Budu Zivzivadze’s face is added to the image of Chris Hemsworth. The information that Hemsworth made a similar statement is also false.
The quotes disseminated on Facebook do not belong to Chris Hemsworth. He did not write anything similar on his personal Facebook, Instagram and X (former Twitter) accounts. Information cannot be found in open sources either. As for the circulated photo, it is altered, as the face of Budu Zuvzivadze, the forward of the Georgian national team and German Karlsruhe, is inserted into the actual photo of Hemsworth. The authentic photo of Hemsworth was taken at the Met Gala 2024 on May 6, 2024.

Due to the popularity of the actor, it is easy to tell that this particular photo is fake. However, traces of software editing are already visible in the distributed photo, and the faces of the people in the background in the photo published on Facebook are stretched and look unnatural.
It should also be noted that the photo with the attached quote was originally published on July 3 on the “Movieverse” Facebook page. The comments written by the page administrator make it clear that their goal was a joke and they also admit that they used Photoshop for it. Despite this, the post went viral, and some of the users considered both the information and the photo to be authentic.
Since the UEFA EURO 2024 Championship, “Myth Detector” debunked a number of false claims regarding Zivzivadze and other members of the Georgia national team. For details, see:
