Ultra-nationalist Pages are Repeatedly Lying about “Iran Street”

On October 26, 2018 a photo depicting the street name sign with the “Iran Street” written on it, once again appeared on Facebook. This time the photo was disseminated by “National Power” with the caption: “When are we going to name streets after Russia and the Ottoman Empire? Shame!” The “National Power’s” post was shared by other pages, such as “Patriots of Georgia”; and “Nazi Georgia”.

TV Obiektivi’s Manipulation that Tourists Damage the Medical Sector

On October 4, a reportage was aired on TV Obiektivi’s news program, mentioning that tourists allegedly inflict serious financial damage on Georgian medical facilities. Without revealing any statistical data, journalist concluded that the tourists account for thousands of GEL in debt, as “tourists often refuse to pay treatment costs”.

Kremlin’s Version on Skripals in Georgian-language Media

Russian Media Outlets Try to Overshadow Skripal Case by Counter-accusations and Patarkatsishvili Case

On October 15, 2018, Channel One, Russia’s largest state-run TV channel, aired the story by Timur Siraziev titled “The British government extends the rights for its Special Forces to kill and torture throughout the world.” During the entire story, the author tries to link high-profile murders of former KGB agents, attempted murders, as well as deaths of some persons associated with Russia, including Boris Berezovsky and Badri Patarkatsishvili, to MI5, UK’s domestic counterintelligence and security agency.

Who Takes Part in a Media Forum Organized by Kremlin in Tbilisi

On September 4-7, 2108, International South Caucasus Media Forum will be held at Vere Palace Hotel in Tbilisi. The theme of this year’s media forum is The Role of Media to Build Trust in the Region. The media forum is organized by the Russian Center of Political Sciences North-South (Север-Юг), press club Commonwealth (содружество) and Georgian, yet pro-Russian online newspaper Georgia & World. The event is being held with the support of Russia’s Presidential Fund.
