On May 10, Facebook user Fa Ntina, known for systematically spreading disinformation, published a video that, according to her, shows a “complex built on land purchased by Arabs” near Ananuri Fortress. The author claims that “Arabs are invited to the complex, and advertisements are everywhere.”

 Ananuri Fortress

The video does not show a complex built on land purchased by Arabs near Ananuri Fortress. The footage, originally published by a TikTok user, was shot in a recreational area and shows a park. The land plot belongs to the Dusheti Municipality.

The video shared by the Facebook user was taken from the TikTok platform, and the name of the author — “🪬جورج” — is visible on it. The Arabic name translates into Georgian as “Giorgi.” The TikTok account indicates that it belongs to Giorgi Apciauri and also links to an Instagram account under the same name. The caption in Arabic on the video translates as “You must visit this place someday.”

 Ananuri Fortress

The video shows the area adjacent to the Ananuri Fortress complex. In reality, the territory described by the Facebook post’s author as a complex built by Arabs is a recreational zone. The area includes a park, covered spaces, vendor booths, etc.

We also verified the area visible in the video using Google Maps and Google Earth. On the map, the location is marked as “Ananuri Beach.” A photo uploaded in 2021 features the same green-roofed structures seen in the video.

The same area can be viewed on Google Earth. In the 2021 uploaded image, the park is fully visible.

The project for the recreational area was published on the official Facebook page of the Mtskheta-Mtianeti State Representative’s Administration in 2020, when construction of the tourist infrastructure was underway.

In 2021, the administration published photos showing the final stage of the project’s second phase. According to the accompanying text, the total area of the territory is 10,001 square meters, and it is designated as a public gathering and recreational space for the population.

We found information about the land parcel on the website of the National Agency of Public Registry of Georgia. The non-agricultural land plot, with the cadastral code 71.55.07.077, covering 10,001 square meters, is owned by Dusheti Municipality. The website includes a cadastral map and an extract from the public registry.

Therefore, despite the Facebook post author’s claims, the video published by TikTok user Giorgi Apciauri does not show a complex built by Arabs near the Ananuri Fortress but rather a recreational space set up on the site. Furthermore, the land belongs to the Dusheti Municipality and is not owned by any private individual or company.
