On February 18-19, a six-second video was posted on Facebook and TikTok, in which President Salome Zourabichvili appears to be kissing U.S. Congressman Joe Wilson.
The video featuring Salome Zourabichvili and Joe Wilson was generated using artificial intelligence and does not reflect reality.
On February 15, U.S. Congressman Joe Wilson posted a photo of his meeting with Salome Zourabichvili on X. Wilson stated that Zourabichvili is the legitimate president of Georgia and emphasized the need for sanctions against the ruling Georgian Dream party as well as the importance of free and fair elections.
The photo was published on Facebook as an information card by the news agency Interpressnews (IPN). The IPN information card was used to generate the circulated video, as the agency’s logo is visible in the six-second clip.
In one version of the video shared on Facebook, the logos of MINIMAX and Hailuo AI appear in the lower right corner. MINIMAX is an AI chatbot, while Hailuo AI is an artificial intelligence tool capable of generating visual and audio materials.
The application allows users to upload a photo and create an animation based on it.
Salome Zourabichvili has been the target of multiple discreditation campaigns. Notably, the discreditation campaigns against her are often gender-biased.
