On April 24, 2023,  a number of Facebook accounts (1, 2), including “Shiin Evropisken,” published a photo of US President Joe Biden in a colourful swimsuit.

The photo depicting Joe Biden in a swimsuit is not authentic, as it was generated by Artificial Intelligence.

The mentioned photo of Joe Biden cannot be found in reliable open sources or media outlets. The photo is mostly shared by Twitter accounts and has been circulating since early April 2023. We traced the oldest tweet containing this photo to April 1, which was posted in response to Elon Musk’s tweet. Musk tweeted an AI-generated photo of himself wearing a white coat similar to the AI-generated photo of the Pope, and other Twitter accounts responded by posting two AI-generated photos of Biden, one in a pink jacket and the other in a swimsuit.

The publication WION has combined photos of world leaders generated by artificial intelligence. Next to Donald Trump, Emmanuel Macron and the Pope, a photo of Joe Biden dressed in a swimsuit created by AI can also be found.
