On October 30, a Facebook user published a photo that, according to the description, was taken in Gaza. The photo shows a destroyed operating room in which doctors operate on a patient.
The disseminated photo is generated using Artificial Intelligence (AI) and, as the details in the photo indicate, does not depict the actual operating room.
The photo disseminated on Facebook is generated using artificial intelligence (AI) and does not depict an actual operating room. This is indicated by the details in the picture, which can be noticed upon careful observation.
The ceiling in the picture is badly damaged, however, the light fixture is still attached and working, which would not be possible with such extensive damage. Part of the lamp is actually “fixed” on the shore of the ruins, and part of it is connected to the open space.
Doctors don’t have faces – the part of the face where the doctors’ eyes are supposed to be is solid and skin-colored – even in a low-quality image the eyes would still be a different color to separate them from the rest of the face. In the center of this part of the picture, in the strip of light, a dark-colored line can be seen, which looks like a crack, and it is not clear what it could represent, since there must be emptiness in this part of the room. The light, which is usually created by the lamp, emits as if it “rises” from the patient, and not from above.
The doctor in the background of the photo is depicted in an unnatural position, his back is strangely bulging, and at first glance, he should be kneeling, although his legs are not fully shown in the photo.

It is also worth noting that the results obtained using Google’s reverse image search show that the photo was spread on social networks and has not been covered by reliable media outlets.
This AI-generated visual was used as the cover photo by the South American media outlet teleSUR, which is funded by the governments of Venezuela, Cuba, Bolivia, and Nicaragua. teleSUR attributed the photo to X (Twitter) user @SpiritofHo (Danny Haiphong), who publishes pro-Palestinian posts on his page.
As of now, no similar photo is available on X user Danny Haiphong’s page. However, in the comments of one of his posts, a user posted a screenshot that Haipong posted the photo, and the post has a note added by users of the platform. According to the note, the post is generated by artificial intelligence and the operation would not be possible under the conditions shown in the image.
The war between Israel and Hamas began on October 7, 2023, after the terrorist organization attacked Israel. As of November 1, 1,400 people were killed and more than 5,000 injured in Israel as a result of the conflict, while 239 Israelis are being held hostage in the Gaza Strip. 8,525 people were killed and more than 20,000 injured in the Gaza Strip as a result of Israel’s counterattacks. 125 people were killed and 2,050 injured in the West Bank.
Since the start of the Israel-Hamas war on October 7, 2023, “Myth Detector” verified a number of false claims around the topic.
The images generated by artificial intelligence are periodically distributed as real photos in different contexts and have been verified by “Myth Detector” in the past. For more information on how to recognize similar photos, see the article:
